Annuitant Years of Service Subsidy Rates

You are subject to the Annuitant Years of Service Subsidy Policy if on January 1, 2012, you did not have five years of service in the State retirement system from where you will receive an annuity (ERS, TRS, Fulton, or APS), and this information is reported to SHBP from your applicable State retirement system upon your retirement.

Note: If you disagree with the information provided by your State retirement system which SHBP used to determine you are subject to the Annuitant Years of Service Subsidy Policy because: 1) you are not subject to the Policy or 2) you are subject to the Policy but your years of service are incorrect, please complete the Annuitant Years of Service Subsidy Policy Review Process.

Below is the link to the rate calculator to assist retirees with estimating the costs of their coverage. The cost of your SHBP retiree coverage is based on rates set by the Board of the Department of Community Health and your years of service in the State retirement system from which you receive an annuity. An additional 2 percent administration fee will be added to members SHBP bill directly.
