9amHealth Weight Management Program

9amHealth is available to SHBP members, spouses, and eligible dependents 18 years or older who are enrolled in the State Health Benefit Plan through Anthem (HRA or HMO) or UnitedHealthcare (HDHP or HMO).  Members enrolled in Kaiser Permanente are currently not eligible. There are some medical conditions that would exclude members from 9am participation.

9amHealth’s care plans may include: 

• Access to weight health experts
• Prescription medications
• Lab tests
• At-home devices

• Nutrition and fitness coaching

   

Changes to Weight Management Program Effective October 1, 2026:

SHBP is making changes related to the coverage of weight loss medications and the associated lifestyle and weight management program provided by 9amHealth.  Effective October 1, 2026, participation in the 9amHealth program will be optional and no longer be required in order to obtain your weight loss medication. The 9amHealth program remains available to all SHBP members for free to help them achieve their weight loss goals but prescriptions for weight loss medications can be written by the member’s physician of choice and is not limited to only 9amHealth physicians beginning October 1, 2026.  Weight loss prescriptions must comply with prior authorization and benefit coverage rule requirements. Please call CVS at 1-844-345-3241 if you have any questions.  Coverage requirements for weight loss medications for benefit year 2027 will be outlined in your open enrollment materials.
