Prostate Cancer Awareness Month: Screening and Prevention Tips
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, but when detected early, it is often highly treatable. Many men do not experience symptoms in the early stages, making routine screenings and conversations with a healthcare provider especially important. Men age 50 and older—and those at higher risk, including Black men and men with a family history of prostate cancer—should discuss when screening is appropriate.
While there is no guaranteed way to prevent prostate cancer, maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, a balanced diet, and routine preventive care may help reduce risk and support overall health. Early detection remains one of the most effective tools for improving outcomes.
