Getting Started

Submit Payroll Location Contact Form

Identify one individual who will be responsible to manage and process pre-tax payroll deductions for SHBP members electing the UnitedHealthcare High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and choosing to open a Health Savings Account (HSA) with Optum Bank effective January 1, 2026. This individual will be contacted for future communications including upcoming webinar trainings.

Education & Training

  • UHC will communicate webinar training dates to the identified payroll location contacts.
  • UHC will provide payroll contacts with training on the HSA enrollment process and responsibilities.

Register as an Optum Benefits Administrator

  • Each designated payroll location contact will receive a welcome email (including an administration guide) after Optum Bank completes the initial group setup.
    • Upon completion of the payroll location being added to the Optum banking system as an active employer group, a custom URL will be provided to the payroll location contact for use in the member enrollment process. This email will have the subject line "Getting Started with Optum Bank HSA’s" under "Payroll Location Name" and will be sent by [email protected].
      • The customized URL prefills your group name and group ID within the online application to ensure employees are properly enrolling under your group. This process also assists with accurate reporting on your account status.
      • It is strongly recommended that you hide this URL as a deep link with the text "click here to enroll" (as an example) before supplying the link to your employees. 

 

  • Following receipt of the welcome email, the payroll location contact will receive a registration email within 3–5 business days. The email will be from [email protected] with "Complete your Optum Benefits Administrator Registration" in the subject line.

 

  • Once registration is complete, the payroll location contact will have the ability to add accounts, input and process pre-tax payroll deduction contributions and set up additional users as secondary contacts as needed in the employer portal.
